Dr. Stephen Thomas Chang
I discovered a small easily overlooked notice in San Francisco evening news. In it a short
mention was made of a lecture on Taoist Sexology at Fritzi Armstrong's Townhall Metaphysical
Bookstore.
By the time the lectures finished, I told myself I'd follow Dr. Chang for life, and in fact I was in
all his classes that became the framework for his published works.
30 years later I'm still following and learning his principles of Acupressure, Herbology, Pulse and
Face Reading, Han Dynasty I Ching, Internal Exercise, Tao Yin and more.
In B.C. Before Chang, most of my instructors were dry scholars and intellectuals.
Stephen was a refreshing departure. He gave me a master key, merging hard Science and
Metaphysics, calling his work the missing link between the two.
He taught me a way to connect the dots together, to decypher an otherwise complex code,
from an ancient and arcane past.
Stephen's upbringing in a family with a 400 year tradition of physicians,
and having starting Taoist medicine at the age of six surely shaped his
life.
His great grandmother was a master physician and his great grandfather was physician to the
Emperor Tung Tse and Empress Tse Shi who awarded the Chang family the highest honor -the
right to wear the Five Toe Imperial Dragon Crest.
Stephen has degrees in medicine, law, theology and philosophy and speaks several languages
including the classical language (like learning Latin for us).
